Whether you're an aspiring firefighter, EMT, or simply someone looking to give back in your free time, nearly anyone can contribute to the fire service.
We also welcome applications for social members. Social members are responsible for helping out at events, functions, and fundraisers, but do not have to respond to emergencies.
If you're looking to acquire new skills and contribute to a valuable service for your community, consider volunteering with our department.
There is a basic application process that will ask for your basic contact info, as well as past work history and character references. You may also have to share information about your background, including your criminal history and past alcohol and drug use.
As a new firefighter, you will have to undergo an NFPA-approved fire academy course. That means learning about techniques like fire suppression and vehicle extrication, with some hands-on learning involving bunker gear and live fires. The fire academy can be physically difficult, but also really fun.
We will assist you in receiving training on various aspects, and we offer frequent in-house, ongoing training sessions.
JR. Firefighters can join the department at age 14.

Licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health, our Quick Response Service is another aspect of the Fire Department that includes a specially equipped vehicle carrying medical supplies, oxygen, an AED, and is staffed by trained personnel, including Emergency Medical Technicians and Emergency Medical Responders.
QRS vehicles do not transport patients; instead, they provide critical initial care, stabilization, and life support to patients before an ambulance arrives.
By providing rapid initial medical care, QRS helps improve patient outcomes and can serve the community more effectively, especially when ambulances are busy or out of service.
QRS personnel are sometimes also firefighters, but some are only volunteering in this aspect.
We will assist with your training.
